The Extraordinary Testimonies of Jesus

Each of us has one lifetime to write a book of our extraordinary testimonies of Jesus. A book that brings to remembrance the amazing ways of how Jesus met us personally throughout our lives. The ways we experienced His breakthroughs, answered prayers, and His signs, wonders, and miracles.
The word says we overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony (Revelation 12:11). When we share how the Supernatural One overshadowed us in our lives, we give those around us an opportunity to encounter and engage God in similar ways. Testimonies are VERY powerful! Testimonies are encounters and experiences that defy human and earthly wisdom. They are the tangible proof that the God of the Bible, the One who split the Red Sea, brought the walls of Jericho down, raised people from the dead, is still the same, yesterday, today, and forever. He can be called on, looked to, relied upon, to do those things that ONLY He can do.
Inoperable brain tumor… He’s got that.
Bringing your prodigal home… yup, no problem.
Infertility… covered.
Financial challenges, relational issues, favor for that new job…
YES, YES, and YES!
Matthew 19:26 "But Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.""
The word says we have not because we ask not or if we do ask, we ask amiss (James 4:2-3). But testimonies share how God meets you and me - normal, every day-kind-of people - and causes the attributes of the Kingdom of God to be seen and experienced right here, right now. God is no respecter of persons (Romans 2:10-11), what He did for one, He will do for us too. Opinions can be debated but not a real experience or the testimony born out of that experience.
But here’s the thing: many of my own testimonies would not exist if it were not for those who had gone before me. Leaders who regularly shared their own testimonies of how God met them in their challenges, needs, and battles. If it weren’t for the testimonies of those around me my battles would have been too hard, the journey too long, the losses too great, the enemy too persuasive, and I would not have been able to overcome. Their testimonies gave me hope. Their testimonies gave me the strength to get up again; to go again, despite the battle wounds, grief, and what looked and felt like defeat. Their testimonies taught me to never give up, they taught me that if I didn’t give up, I would never lose.
We serve a God whose very nature is miraculous. Everything he does is a miracle by our earthly standards. It should not surprise us that as we interact and encounter Yahweh, the “I Am” God, that we accumulate testimonies of miraculous breakthroughs in our lives. He is a good Father who wants to give His children good gifts (Matthew 7:9-11).
If you are anything like me, I needed to understand the mechanics of HOW he met His people and what those encounters looked like for them, here in modern times on the earth, what were their internal struggles, confessions, and what was their posture through the process while they waited? In that vein, I will share one of my testimonies with you today.
This is a testimony I believe we can all relate to. This is one of the first times I experienced divine healing. I had woken up on a Sunday morning with the feeling you get when you know you are coming down with something serious. My throat was somewhat sore, I felt lethargic, and I was experiencing the early stages of body aches and an intermediate fever. I still felt functional so I decided I was going to push through what my body was feeling and go to church anyway. As the morning wore on, my symptoms worsened but with resolve, we went to church. As worship started the Spirit of the Lord began to challenge me, He reminded me that by the stripes of the Lord Jesus, I WAS healed; Jesus died for me to be able to live a life of health, wholeness, and in complete healing. But I felt terrible. My body was experiencing all of the debilitating symptoms and sensations of someone who was about to be down for the count for what would have no doubt been many days. But as worship continued, the challenge went on. Was I going to accept what my body was experiencing or would I believe what the Word said? The two were in direct opposition to one another. Would I accept that the flu was inevitable for me or would I engage, trust, and by faith step into the divine health Jesus died for me to have; would I choose to believe the word? I didn’t want to be sick; I didn’t have any desire to be home, bedridden or ill. In that moment, I made the decision and chose to press in, receive, and enforce what the word says. “By His stripes, I was healed”. Past tense. It is finished. Done. I repeated those words and prayed them throughout our time of worship, all the while conscious of how bad I felt. I had to choose to not give any of my attention to the signals my body was putting out. I focused on worshipping and praying and taking God at his Word. When worship was over, my symptoms were also. As my spirit engaged with the Holy Spirit during worship, as I claimed, declared, and put His word above the way I felt in my body (it was the high thing that was trying to lift itself above everything else) His Kingdom came and His will was done in my life and overshadowed me here on earth. His heavenly truth about my health became my earthly reality.
I learned so much during those 30 minutes of worship that day! What I didn’t know at the time was that I was about to step into a war with infertility that would last 13 years. I didn’t know but He did. That day He was laying the foundation for the faith and principals I was going to need to withstand and ultimately win that battle.
So, the next time your body tries to tell you that you are coming down with something, remember this testimony, remember what the Word says and ask the Lord to meet you in your need.
